Historical Interpretations &
Demonstrations
Along with chair caning I also
have an authentic 1850 pioneer costume. Just give me a call if you need
a historical interpretation. I perform demonstrations of the art of chair
caning at many historic mansions and other events in Tennessee.

Caring for your
Bottom
Don't you agree that every bottom needs pampered
every now and then!
Chair bottoms are woven with natural fibers that
need to breath. Bi-annually (such as the end of summer or winter) I recommend
a thorough soaking of the bottom with a towel soaked in warm water. After
drying for 24 hours, rub in a light coat of furniture oil to keep the seat
from cracking. Since sunlight will fade color, chairs finished with an
oil -based stain will need a periodic turn out of direct light.
Only the finest reed and cane are used to weave
a high quality product which with proper care will become your families
heirloom.
